Our new holiday bungalow “Sonja” is a pleasant and homely accommodation. On the ground floor it is wheelchair accessible and equiped with flexible customization features in the bathroom.

As the term “wheelchair accessible” is not saying much, we will try to give you an idea of of what to expect on Texel and Sonja in particular. Giving you the opportunity to assess whether a holiday at Sonja and on Texel might accommodate you.
The interior
Sonja is a detached bungalow in a typical Texel architectural style and suitable for 6 people. The bungalow is without a threshold on the ground floor. The bathroom has an antiskid floor. The front door (passageway 90 cm) can be opened electrically. The interior doors giving access to other rooms on the ground floor are sliding doors (passageway 90 cm). The terrace can be reached through French doors from the living room. All the bedrooms have good boxspringbeds. The bathroom on the ground floor is provided with a wash basin that is accessible by wheelchair. A wall rail system offers easy installation of a shower chair and / or hinged arm supports mounted by the side of the toilet.
Size
The bungalow is suited for 6 persons. On the ground floor (70 m²) there is 1 bathroom, 1 bedroom, the kitchen and the lounge. The first floor is the same size and can be reached by climbing the stairs. There is no (chair) lift available.
Kitchen
There is a completely furnished kitchen. There is no space under the kitchen worktop for a wheelchair, but we placed more drawers instead of base cabinets under the worktop. The kitchen has a dishwasher, a oven, a tea maker and a luxurious coffee machine (coffee beans are freshly ground).
Bedrooms
One bedroom is located on the ground floor, the other bedrooms are on the first floor and can be reached by stairs. There is no (chair) lift. All bedrooms have proper boxspring beds (height: 50 cm). Bathroom
The bathroom are provided with an antiskid floor. The bathroom on the ground floor is provided with a wash basin that is accessible by wheelchair. TV reception
The Bungalow is equipped with tv reception with Glasfiber connection – BBC one, two, BBC World and all popular Dutch and German tv channels can be watched.
Free Wifi – Internet
For email and webbrowsing, you can use our WIFI network (perfect connection over fibreglass).
Parking
The parking facility for the semi-invalid is along the road (Bakkenweg). From the parking lot you can reach Sonja via an unpaved country track (about 60 meters) or by paved pavement along the road Bakkenweg to the road Westerweg (about 125 meters). The parking lot is over 3.5 meters wide and 7.0 meters long.
