Rent a bike during your stay
Texel is a wonderful island to explore by bike. That is why AnjaHoeve works together with Vermeulen Bikes.
As a guest of AnjaHoeve, you can reserve a bicycle or e-bike with Vermeulen Bikes before you arrive. Your bikes will be delivered to AnjaHoeve free of charge and collected again at the end of the rental period.
This means your bike can be ready for you when you arrive, without having to visit a bike rental shop during your holiday.
[Reserve your bike with Vermeulen Bikes ›]
Bringing your own e-bike? No problem. At AnjaHoeve you can store your bicycle and charge the battery.
Walking from AnjaHoeve
One of the advantages of staying at AnjaHoeve is our location. De Dennen woodland is within walking distance, and from there you can continue through the dunes towards the North Sea beach.
Walking routes on Texel
Texel has an extensive network of walking paths through woodland, dunes and nature reserves and along the beach.
[View walking routes on Texel ›]
Albert’s tip
You do not need to get in the car first to enjoy a beautiful walk. Simply walk from AnjaHoeve towards De Dennen and decide along the way how far you would like to go.
A walk through the woodland is lovely in itself, but if you have more time, continue towards the dunes and beach.
Would you like a route to suit the distance you want to walk that day? Just ask me.
Exploring Texel by bike
Cycling takes you to places you might easily pass by in a car. From AnjaHoeve you can cycle directly towards Den Hoorn, Den Burg, De Dennen and the west coast.
Cycling routes on Texel
From a short ride through woodland and dunes to a complete circuit of the island, Texel offers cycling routes for almost every distance.

Albert’s tip
Do not spend your entire holiday trying to get from A to B as quickly as possible. It is often the smaller roads and cycle paths that make Texel so enjoyable.
Take a turning you have never tried before, stop along the way and enjoy the view. Texel is not a large island, so getting truly lost is quite difficult.
What’s on today on Texel?
What is happening on Texel changes throughout the year. Markets, excursions, performances, walks and events are therefore easiest to find in an up-to-date calendar.

Albert’s tip
Do not only look at the major attractions. A market, village festival, small exhibition or an event that happens to take place during your stay can become one of your favourite memories of Texel.
Feel free to ask me what is happening on the island that week.
Discover Texel’s nature
Texel has much more to offer than just the beach. From AnjaHoeve you can quickly reach De Dennen, the dunes and the west coast, while there are many more special nature areas elsewhere on the island.

Texel is a wonderful island to explore with your dog. Please remember that rules about keeping dogs on a lead can vary according to the area and the season.

Staying at AnjaHoeve? Up to two dogs are welcome in every accommodation. Rood, Heem and Hof also have their own enclosed garden.

Eating and drinking on Texel
Texel has plenty of restaurants, beach pavilions, cafés and places where you can enjoy local produce.
Rather than providing a long list of restaurants here – which naturally changes from time to time – we prefer to direct you to an up-to-date overview.
[View restaurants and places to eat on Texel ›]
Albert’s tip
Which restaurant I would recommend depends very much on what you fancy that evening. Fish, a good piece of meat, a relaxed meal, a beach pavilion or somewhere for a special dinner – just ask me where I would go.
And particularly during busy holiday periods: if you find a restaurant where you would really like to eat, book in advance.
Local Texel products
Texel has many of its own products and producers. From cheese, lamb and beer to ice cream, jam and other products made on the island.
[Discover genuine Texel products ›]
Buying locally not only gives you something tasty to take home, but also introduces you to the people and businesses behind the products of the island.

[Visit Maritime & Beachcombers Museum Flora ›]
Museum Kaap Skil

[Visit Texels Erfgoedmuseum Waelstee ›]
Texel Lighthouse
At the northern tip of the island stands Texel’s distinctive red lighthouse. You can climb the lighthouse and enjoy a wonderful view across Texel, the North Sea and the Wadden Sea.
Albert’s tip
Take some time during your holiday to discover the stories behind Texel. At Flora you can learn about beachcombing, at Kaap Skil about Texel and the sea, at Waelstee about life and work on the island in earlier times, while the lighthouse gives you a completely different view of Texel.
And the best thing is: these places are not only worth visiting when it rains.

One more tip from Albert

Just come and ask me. After more than 21 years at AnjaHoeve, I have discovered quite a few special places on Texel.
I’m always happy to point you in the right direction.
