Room to play for children

There's really lots and lots to undertake on Texel! And children can have a great time on the island, too!
But sometimes there are those quiet moments that you'd rather enjoy the sun on your own terrace, or that you'd just like to read a book.
Then it is good to know that your Anja Hoeve host has thought of your children too.

The farm has a large garden with common terrace. With an overview over our swings, stepping poles and our rowing boat "Vlet" which has been transformed into a sandbox called "TX Anja". Boys and girls often love playing football on the field with two small goals.

Farm animals

Our henhouse called Villa Kakelbont, houses our chickens and there is a small meadow where our goats Bo and Bo live. On the adjacent pasture the sheep and lambs of the sheep farmers of the Lindehoeve graze.

In your accommodation you will also find some family games for the young and old, such as Yatzhee and Monopoly.

Tips for Kids

Indoor children paradise

The indoor children's fun paradise at de Krim in the Cocksdorp is a nice, large indoor play area for children up to 10 years old. Kids can go climbing, scrambling, sliding and jumping to their hearts' content there. While your children enjoy themselves in the huge but safe play objects, you can enjoy a cup of coffee at the reading table. Of course here is also free WIFI available. This attraction is open all year round and stands for many hours of indoor fun. Free admission!

Sommeltjespad

Children love the "Sommeltjespad", which is a 1.5 kilometre-long children's nature trail through the Texel woods. It is much fun to find your way along the 'Sommeltjes', which are a kind of Texel gnomes.

This trail has been made with small children of 3 to 8 years old in mind. Older children might like to make it into a match of "who's going to find the pointers first". There a lot to discover along the trail. A owl resting in a tree, Sommeltjes living under tree roots. According to tradition, Sommeltjes are gnomes who lived in the Sommeltjesberg just outside the village of De Waal.

Viewpoint Fonteinsnol, an adventure in the Texel woods

At the end of Bakkenweg you will find viewpoint Fonteinsnol hidden in the woods.

The name Fonteinsnol derives from the words Nol and Fontein. A nol is a high dune and a fontein = fountain is a water source. At the end of the 19th century the Texel woods were grown and developed at the site of Fonteinsnol. The source dried up and was lost, but the high dune remained. The observation tower at Fonteinsnol is one of the most famous viewpoints of the island and really worth visiting.
